Whether as a daring woman with androgynous features, as the girl next door or as a romantic, strong-willed heroine - Lilian Harvey knew how to inspire German-speaking audiences and, in the meantime, US audiences too. In this comedy of mistaken identity, she appears in a double role: As a baroness who is once again mistaken for a jewel thief, she pursues herself to the sunny Côte d'Azur. There she triggers another wave of amusing mix-ups, from which a romance naturally bubbles up. From the late 1920s until her emigration to France, Harvey and Willy Fritsch, who plays the shrewd charmer here, formed the dream couple of many box office hits in German cinema.
