Ich war neunzehn

A key film – not only in Konrad Wolf's oeuvre – based on his diary entries and memories as a young soldier who returns with the Red Army in 1945 to his former homeland, which has since become foreign to him. Restless and at a loss, his alter ego Gregor encounters fellow soldiers and defectors, fascists and anti-fascists, and is forced to confront the question of his own identity – in the light of a new beginning in Germany.
