Ich seh, ich seh

FromVeronika Franz und Severin Fiala

WithLukas Schwarz, Elias Schwarz, Susanne Wuest u.a.

Year2014

Duration99min.

A borderline film between art and horror. After cosmetic surgery, the mother returns to her twin sons in a remote country house. The children have their doubts: is the woman, bandaged beyond recognition and suddenly so strict, really their mum? The attempt to find out the truth leads to an escalation ... The impressive feature film debut by Severin Fiala and Veronika Franz develops a disturbing psychological thriller full of unforgettable, metaphorically charged images from a naturalistic approach: from the twins jumping on unsafe, muddy ground to the literal vision of a mother tied down by her responsibilities in the Grand Guignol finale. An exceptional film in Austrian cinema, shot in 35mm Techniscope but only shown digitally. The director duo's personal copy, which is kept in the film museum, is used here. (Christoph Huber)
