Ich kann nicht schlafen (J’AI PAS SOMMEIL)
Daïga arrives in Paris from Lithuania for a theater engagement and navigates a milieu that remains alien to her. Camille, a performer, lives with his brother in a strained relationship defined by dependency and unspoken conflicts. At the same time, a series of murders of elderly women rocks the city. Instead of a thriller structure, Denis creates a portrait of urban loneliness where migration, precarious employment, and familial tensions coexist. Violence remains present, but never central, more of an echo that accompanies the characters and intensifies the atmosphere. Denis observes with an attentiveness to nuances, to glances, movements, and moments in which intimacy seems possible yet always slips away.
