Sailor Peter falls in love with Katja, unaware that she is working for pimp Jean. Their dream of a future together is shattered when it emerges that Katja is Peter's sister, whom he has not seen since childhood. Richard Tauber belts out arias and Gründgens makes his film debut as a pimp. A type he was to embody many more times in his film career: brashly charming, clever, manipulative - the hubris is omnipresent. This habitus remains in the memory and makes the film actor Gründgens unmistakable, albeit to his regret due to typecasting. The film was long considered lost and was digitised and restored by the DFF - Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum using analogue film material from the Filmarchiv Austria.
