I Can’t Have Sex
No puedo tener sexo (I Can't Have Sex) is an intimate self-portrait by Bel Gatti, our actress/drag king performer and babysitter protagonist, who hasn't had sex in four years. After sessions with her therapist, she begins filming herself to explore the causes of her sexual blockage. The film combines diary footage and humour to shed light on various aspects of trauma, desire and identity, while reflecting on personal freedom and her complex relationship with her mother. Bel's endeavour to face this complexity leads to emotionally challenging and uncomfortable scenes that will definitely leave no one indifferent. Using sex toys, Greek tragedy and candid, blunt reflections, the film serves as a compelling exercise in exposing vulnerability and revealing hidden aspects of the self, but also in showing how to deal with them creatively. In doing so, it dares to delve deeply into self-discovery and the boundaries and complexities of intimacy.
