Lovesick author Jürgen Anger travels to Los Angeles to investigate the notorious sex worker scene. When he meets the beautiful hustler Monti Ward, he loses all professional distance. Anger is so obsessed with the object of his desire that he pursues Monti through the whole city, past scenarios of eruptive violence and sexual lust fulfilment. The question hangs over everything: do the two of them stand a chance as a couple in the harsh reality of love for sale?

Inspired by SUNSET BOULEVARD, DEATH IN VENICE and Andy Warhol's sex films, HUSTLER WHITE is a self-reflexive and playful tale of lustful obsession and great love at the outer edges of the US dream factory. With a firm eye on authenticity, Bruce LaBruce and Rick Castro shot their romantically explicit hustler comedy at original locations on Santa Monica Boulevard. LaBruce and model Tony Ward are joined by numerous queer underground stars such as Ron Athey and Vaginal Davis in supporting roles.
