SA 18.1.: In the presence of Maria Hofstätter
Subtropical warm air flows into the country ... Between car park, industrial area and terraced housing estate, the asphalt of the Austrian soul breaks open. There is roasting, beating, talking, fucking, tormenting, suffering, silence, sweating. Giving silent expression to screaming pain and vice versa is Ulrich Seidl's genuine art. ‘Wia wea sei kann zu wem’ - it fascinates and yet frightens again and again. Seidl's first feature film wins the Grand Jury Prize in Venice in 2002 and is also the most successful Austrian film at the domestic box office. And Maria Hofstätter leaves a lasting impression as an aimless and brazen hitchhiker with unnecessary list knowledge (the most popular supermarkets, the most erotic TV presenters etc.).
