HOLLYWOODGATE captures a unique moment: the Taliban's move into the former CIA base in Kabul after the withdrawal of US troops. Filmmaker Ibrahim Nash'at documents how the new rulers take over weapons, aircraft and equipment and quickly form their own military force. The film focuses on the inexperienced air force chief Malawi Mansour and Lieutenant M.J. Mukhtar. The film not only shows the transformation of Afghanistan, but also reflects on the staging of power and questions the objectivity of the documentary, as the Taliban help to determine their own reality.
