Teacher Franz is passionate about his job and is therefore extremely popular with his pupils. When little Sita discovers that Franz sometimes turns into a frog, she and the other children in the class do everything they can to help their teacher, catch flies for him and protect him from dangerous animals such as storks. But then a new headmaster takes over the school and things come to a head. The headmaster doesn't appreciate Franz's liberal methods at all. He also has a dark secret of his own...

Based on the children's novel by Paul van Loon, this endearing modern fairy tale is full of amusing scenarios. In Holland, the film was a surprise success at the box office and delighted audiences of all ages.
