An (almost) true story from the underworld

If you want to make it to the top in the underworld, you need brains and big fists. But if you want to survive life, you need an even bigger heart. When Reza fled to Vienna as a ten-year-old boy with his mother and brother and was forced to live in rather precarious circumstances, he soon realized that if you don't want to go down, you need self-confidence and a sense of humour - and have to dish out a good spanking from time to time. That's how he copes with the junior gangsters in the park, that's how he gets his first bike because his mother doesn't have enough money to buy him one. He not only becomes a professional fighter again, but also a professional gangster with underworld boss Milan and starts a lucrative double life. Together with his buddies Mo and Dragan, he makes a name for himself in the underworld through brains, but also extreme brutality: eliminating rivals, slot machine deals, collecting money, beating up people who don't pay on time or who have been paid (often by honorable citizens) to be beaten up. But despite all the hardship, Reza has kept a big heart and a small conscience for his actions - and this heart becomes his undoing. When he falls in love with Beatrice and begins to plan a future with her, he begins to doubt whether he can continue his "work" forever. What he doesn't suspect is that the police, in the form of a special investigation unit led by the experienced Inspector Czermak, who has known Reza since childhood and actually likes him, have long been hot on the heels of Milan's gang and Reza too...
