The film follows Dr. Johann Spittler, a German neuropsychiatrist and one of the few specialists in assessing requests for assisted suicide. He has evaluated hundreds of people with incurable illnesses or psychological disorders and has accompanied many of them to their final step. For this, he was recently sentenced to three years in prison, as assisted dying remains largely illegal.
