Gendernauts

GENDERNAUTS explores the phenomenon of trans gender. Location: San Francisco, time: at the beginning of the new millennium. The film shows gender-mixers and sexual cyborgs who change their bodies with the help of new technologies and biochemistry and thus question the identity of male and female. When asked: "Are you a man or a woman?", the gendernauts answer in the affirmative. GENDERNAUTS introduces us to a group of fascinating artists in California who live between the poles of conventional gender identity. Like the cosmonauts travelling through space and the cybernauts through net culture, the Gendernauts travel through the diverse worlds of sexuality.
