Genderation
More than two decades after Gendernauts, Monika Treut returns to California to reunite with the protagonists of her groundbreaking queer film classic. Sandy Stone, Susan Stryker, Stafford and Max Wolf Valerio were once the young pioneers of the trans movement and almost all lived in what was then the outsider metropolis of San Francisco. Today, they are between 58 and 84 years old, and hardly any of them can afford to live in the city. But the energy of the Gendernauts and their supporters Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens is undiminished.
How have their lives changed? How do they, as civil rights activists, deal with the right-wing conservative policies that threaten the long-fought-for rights of minorities? Genderation takes a utopian look back and shows the creative resistance of the Gendernauts against the threatening living conditions in the USA.
