GEFANGEN IM NETZ is a film experiment that shines a spotlight on the taboo subject of abuse of young people online: three adult actresses, three children's rooms, 10 days and 2,458 men with clear intentions. The three very girlish-looking actresses, who pretend to be 12-year-olds online with fictitious profiles, chat from carefully recreated ‘children's rooms’ in a film studio with men of all ages. The ‘girls’ were tracked down and contacted by the men online. Most of the men ask for sex on screen and send explicit photos or links to porn sites. Some try to blackmail the girls. In captivating images, the film tells the drama of the three actresses from the first casting to the first meetings with the men who contacted them. Six cameras film the events, and the filming is comprehensively supervised and accompanied. The perpetrators are pursued with their own weapons, turning the hunters into the hunted. A film that shakes people up!

Every third woman in Austria is affected by violence from the age of 15. But violence doesn't just start with physical assault. It takes many forms - offline and ONLINE. As a result of digitalisation and social media, violence is increasingly being perpetrated via the internet and mobile phones (cyber violence). Film & discussion on the occasion of the international 16 days against violence against women and girls.
