It should be idyllic days at the lake for Anna, Georg and their young son - when suddenly two young men dressed in white appear at the door. At first, they politely enter the little family home, but they soon demonstrate the vulnerability of their victims - and that of the audience - with seemingly motiveless demonstrations of psychological and physical violence. Shocking and difficult to endure, Haneke exposes us viewers as accomplices.
