Finally! Jason Voorhees gets his ice hockey goalie mask after having to murder people with a burlap sack over his head in Steve Miner's debut Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981). In fact, the series finds its core form here: a group of people are massacred by Jason in ever new ways; this time it's mainly teenagers who, foolishly, are vacationing in the very place where the seriously wounded psychopath is hiding from his pursuers and wants to rest. Since the studio decided to produce the film in 3D, Jason was allowed to wield weapons that suit the format's potential: harpoons, machetes, poker hooks... After this stylishly tasteless gem, at the latest, every third part of a series, regardless of genre, deserves to be shot in 3D! (Olaf Möller)
