FreerideFilmFestival Cinema Edition 2023

The short film programme under the motto FOREVER RIDE covers a wide spectrum: from relentless ski action and the female cycle to playful dystopia and wordless beauty to arctic adventures and a snowboard film about the magic of cornering.

THE BLONDES is a sympathetic portrait of three friends and at the same time a plea for women's empowerment. It is probably the most feminist ski action film in FFF history. Truly great freeride cinema - both visually and musically.

LEFT RIGHT - In search of the perfect turn, the filmmaker encounters dreamlike locations - from the Alps to Japan - as well as incredible characters such as French freestyle legend Mathieu Crepel.

CYCLES - How do female athletes deal with their menstrual cycle and how does it affect their performance? Johanna Brunner and Anjuna Hartmann go one step further with their experimental and action-packed film project "Cycles": in this all-female production, they deal openly and honestly with the transformative power that lies in the female cycle.

22 HØURS - Arctic Dreamlines. - The South Tyrolean Weger brothers love challenges and variety: both were world-class kayakers. They are also passionate paragliders, base jumpers and freeriders - and content creators who regularly go viral with their clips on social media. The winter of 2022/23 was actually already over for the pair in May - before they were alerted to an approaching storm and huge amounts of fresh snow by snowboarding legend Krister Kopala, a friend of theirs.

PURITY - A Snowmads Meditation on the Art of Experiencing Nature. - Unlike previous Snowmads productions, PURITY does not describe geographical adventure journeys. Instead, Gabriel Indrist, part of the Snowmads crew, and director Lukas Schäfer take us on a meditative journey into our inner selves and to a deep connection with nature.

PROJECTION - A team of skiers and snowboarders set off with shovels and cameras to the ruins of alpine winter sports. They discover the architecture and infrastructure of abandoned ski resorts and the landscapes in which these facilities have been left behind.
