In Romania, 44-year-old Anelise, a gay woman, faces unexpected legal barriers when her girlfriend proposes. Determined to secure rights for herself and others, she takes their case to the European Court of Human Rights, joined by 20 same-sex couples in the largest LGBTQ+ lawsuit in the Court’s history. As they confront humiliating refusals from officials, the intense pressure affects Anelise’s personal life. Filmed with warmth and intimacy by her partner, who serves as the film’s cinematographer, the documentary captures Anelise’s struggle to balance love and resilience as they await a verdict that could change their lives.
