Let's not beat around the bush: Flesh for Frankenstein, produced by Andy Warhol and directed by Paul Morrissey with assistance from Antonio Margheriti, with sound, in color and 3D, is the jack-of-all-trades of world cinema – the film that serves the entire spectrum from highbrow gallery art to ready-made cinema trash in equal measure. But then you immediately wonder which faction frowns more perplexedly when Udo Kier declaims in his harsh Cologne timbre, “To know death, Otto, you have to fuck life ... in the gall bladder!” or when, in the grand finale, he turns to the audience with his liver dangling from the tip of a spear in praise of space cinema ...?
