Fight for Tomorrow
Ex-convict Sam-long scrapes by more poorly than well as a shady parking lot attendant, complete with a tiny apartment in Mongkok. One evening, he gets caught up in a brawl between rival gangs and ends up—once again—at the police station, where he unexpectedly and after years without contact meets his son Shek-tau.
Shek-tau has become a rising Muay Thai boxer and is at the station because of a dispute with his potential opponent, David. As fate would have it, David is none other than the tyrannical son of Sam-long’s former gangster “brother” Lee Man-sei—the very man who sent him to prison after a joint robbery.
These are the ingredients for this immensely energetic Hong Kong action film, which joins the ranks—most delightfully—of recent titles that some are calling part of a Hong Kong action renaissance, such as Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In or Stuntman.
In any case, this film reminds us to once again celebrate the still-unmatched and absolutely essential Hong Kong action cinema!
