Female Perversions
In her film adaptation of Kaplan's psychoanalytical-feminist study, Susan Streitfeld has her female characters suffer from various forms of “female perversion” - above all Tilda Swinton (in her first American feature film) as a successful yuppie public prosecutor. In cool images with an occasional satirical undertone, she shows the neuroses to which the desire to conform to gender stereotypes can or must lead.
