The film adaptation of the memoirs of serial killer Jack Unterweger with his active involvement is - in hindsight - a mistake for many reasons, as the man who was still admired as a "harbour poet" at the time of its creation was able to make a significant contribution to his own fame. However, the formally exciting structure and the black and white images reminiscent of film noir, in which the reflections of an outsider's existence are cast, still hold their own.
