Fanfaren der Liebe
The remake of Fanfare d'amour (1935) became a box office hit before Billy Wilder produced the most famous version with Some Like It Hot (1959). Pianist Peter (Dieter Borsche) and bassist Hans (Georg Thomalla) look for engagements in various disguises and end up in the ladies' band Alpenveilchen. Even on the train journey to their first engagement, they enjoy the relaxed atmosphere with the musicians. Both fall in love with Gaby (Inge Egger), who sees through the scam right from the start. Grethe Weiser as the resolute bandmaster Lydia d'Estée and Oskar Sima as the lecherous hotelier Hallinger refine their exuberant performance into a comedic highlight. When asked whether the term “entertainment film specialist” bothered him, Kurt Hoffmann replied: "I don't mind it at all. If you put the little word good in front of it, then I'm happy."
