Film-Kurier thought Morgan was a good fit for the role – he deserved special mention. In Vienna, the film was advertised as a ‘film about great comedians, business and beloved relatives’. The play of the same name by the Herrnfeld brothers, which premiered in 1905, was highly controversial due to its clichéd portrayal of Jewish characters. Director Steinhoff made an effort to avoid ‘jargon words’.
