Exploring Hans Hass

A film that is tantamount to a sensation: Hans Hass aficionado Oliver Bruck is actually just looking for reading material about his role model when he discovers hundreds of film cans in a garage in Lower Austria, which turn out to be the archive of the underwater film pioneer. Bruck hands the material over to the Filmarchiv Austria, begins to sift through it and discovers rarities and works that were thought to be lost, as well as undeveloped reels that conceal untapped treasures almost 60 years after they were shot. He embarks on a search for companions and family members and tries to find out more about Hans Hass as a person. His journey thus becomes a portrait of a complex and ambivalent personality, the likes of which you don't see every day.
