EL VIAJE
Fernando “Pino” Solanas (1936-2020) is one of Argentina's most important filmmakers, a politically and artistically unquestionable spirit who made a significant contribution to the development of the so-called Third Cinema. By bringing the myths and symbols of his country to life with bittersweet irony, he became the chronicler of a turbulent and bloody century - and a political target: he almost fell victim to an assassination attempt during filming. In his road movie, he sends 17-year-old Martín from the south of Argentina on a search for his father in Brazil by bike - through a flooded Buenos Aires and the destroyed rainforest. Through his eyes we discover grievances and contradictions - and the poetic power of cinema. (Florian Widegger)
