In 1935, Antoni Benaiges was employed as a teacher in a small, remote village in Burgos, Spain. There he developed an intense relationship with his pupils, a group of boys and girls aged between six and twelve. He makes them a promise: He will take them to the sea for the first time in their lives.
75 years later, the granddaughter of one of his pupils, who has set out in search of her grandfather, discovers the wonderful yet tragic story of the teacher and the story of a promise that was never fulfilled. Based on the incredible true story of Antoni Benaiges, a Catalan teacher who brought progressive teaching methods from France to a rural village.
