El ángel exterminador
After an opera performance, some distinguished citizens meet for a late dinner in a fashionable villa. The next morning, not only have all the servants disappeared - the guests realise that they can no longer leave the room for some inexplicable reason ... Buñuel imposes a quasi-lockdown on the bourgeoisie, and within a short time they revert to barbarism. Or does the exceptional situation only bring out of the people what is already inside them? A confusing, eerie and blackly humorous work that has been adapted in many different ways on stage and in film since its publication - without the epigones ever coming close to the original, which regularly tops the lists of the best films of all time.
