Vahid, an Azerbaijani car mechanic, was once imprisoned by the Iranian regime and repeatedly interrogated there while blindfolded. One day, a man named Eghbal enters his workshop. The squeak of his prosthetic leg leads Vahid to believe he has recognized one of his former tormentors in Eghbal.

AN ORDINARY ACCIDENT (“It Was Just an Accident”) features a stellar cast including Ebrahim Azizi (Me, Maryam, the Children and 26 Others, Killing the Eunuch Khan), Vahid Mobasheri (The Witness, No Bears), Mariam Afshari, Hadis Pakbaten, Majid Panahi, and Mohamad Ale Elyasmehr.

Iranian master director Jafar Panahi, winner of the Golden Bear (Taxi Tehran) and the Golden Lion (The Circle), was awarded the Palme d’Or for Best Film at Cannes 2025 for AN ORDINARY ACCIDENT.
