A shy boy has to summon up all his courage to help his alien friend leave Earth and return home.

Young Elliott can hardly believe his eyes when he finds a small alien in a shed. The wizened goblin had to be left behind by his colleagues on Earth during an exploratory flight because they were in danger of being discovered by humans. Elliot tries to hide his new friend from the government scientists because he wants to radio his distant relatives. But E.T. is getting weaker and weaker from homesickness.
