The effects of the climate crisis are omnipresent. Human and children's rights are being violated on a daily basis. As a result, there is an increase in climate lawsuits worldwide, as in Austria, to fight for more climate justice.
In the free film screening ‘Duty of Care - the Climate Trials’ (OmU), organised by Amnesty International and the Federal Youth Council (BJV), the story of two of the most groundbreaking climate lawsuits (Urgenda, Shell) and their far-reaching influence will be shown.
In the subsequent panel discussion, NGOs and decision-makers will discuss the responsibility to contain the climate crisis from the perspective of human and children's rights. The discussion will focus on the climate policy commitment of the young generation in particular and the children's right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment, as declared last year by the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child in its General Comment.
When: 16 October 2024, starting at 19:30
Where: Admiral cinema, Burggasse 119, 1070 Vienna
