This masterful adaptation of a story by Haruki Murakami was one of the most beautiful films at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival and has won numerous awards, including Best International Film at the Oscars and the 2022 Golden Globes.

Yusuke Kafuku, a successful director and actor, lost his beloved wife, screenwriter Oto, two years ago. When he receives an offer to direct Chekhov's Uncle Vanya at a theater festival in Hiroshima, he accepts. There he meets the reserved Misaki, who is assigned to him as his chauffeur. During their car rides together in a red Saab, both hesitantly confront their past. Kafuku is confronted with the secret of his deceased wife.

Ryusuke Hamaguchi (Asako I & II, Wheel of Fantasy and Fortune) is one of the most interesting Japanese directors working today. DRIVE MY CAR is his most beautiful film to date.
