Drifting Ice

The protagonists of these five films seem to float through life like Drifting Ice on the surface of a lake. One during a power outage in a darkened Cuba, one after his release from prison in a small Chinese town, one after a work accident in Kosovo, one on a e-waste landfill in West Africa, and one as a miner in a remote place in Inner Mongolia. Family ties are just as insidious as working relations, acoustic field recordings or AI-generated moving images. The main thing is that the water carries us. (db)
