The history of film, technology, radio and television meets the history of mankind. An essay film about longing, progress, dissolved distances, virtual realities and a present characterised by total networking. Hints at a future that is constantly seeking to be reinvented. It has never been easier to access media content anywhere and at any time, to travel from a safe retreat to the most distant places in the world. Where does this desire come from, how has it developed and where is it taking humanity? Utopia or dystopia? The visual and audio levels are packed with dynamism. Thoughts and images come crashing down on us and take us on a journey through eras that have all considered themselves to be the most modern. (Kristina Höch)
