Dream’s Gate

With only her camera in her luggage, Iranian director Negin Ahmadi travelled to the front line of the fight against IS in northern Syria for her documentary and accompanied a women's militia in the Syrian Kurdish region. In her film diary, she asks what drives these women to go to war for their rights. Impressions of the brutality of the fighting alternate with personal, intimate moments among the female soldiers, thus undermining the grand and glorifying narratives of war.
