A former secret agent is sent on one last mission, blah blah blah – in other words: the plot is incidental; this is all about adrenaline-fuelled, uncompromising action that races relentlessly from one set piece to the next, featuring ex-basketball player (and North Korea traveller) Dennis Rodman in bizarre outfits, Van Damme doing the craziest workout in film history, and Tsui Hark, who dresses up this endless sequence of attractions with irony and tempo.
