In this impressive portrait of a woman, based on the New York Times bestseller by art historian Tilar J. Mazzeo, Thomas Napper sheds light on the life of Barbe-Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin, who as a young widow defied the conventions of a patriarchal society and rose to become one of the most successful businesswomen. The title role was played by Haley Bennett (‘Girl on the Train’), who also acted as producer alongside ‘Pride and Prejudice’ director Joe Wright and Christina Weiss Lurie (‘Inside Job’). Other roles include Sam Riley (‘Control’), Tom Sturridge (‘Sandman’) and ‘Peaky Blinders’ star Natasha O'Keeffe. Bryce Dessner from The National was responsible for the music.
