Die Wismut

In 1946, the Soviet occupying forces founded the mining company Wismut to dig for uranium in the Saxon Ore Mountains, which Stalin needed for his atomic bomb. Terrifying and impressive images and narratives reveal decades of overexploitation of the environment and people - and turn the film into a timeless memorial against destruction in the service of supposed progress.
