The first Karl May film of the post-war period and the first in color! For this reason alone, you shouldn't miss SKLAVENKARAWANE, which is rarely shown in cinemas. But also to see how differently May's world can be filmed than in the WINNETOU westerns. Marischka's approach is influenced by his knowledge of the contemporary adventure cinema between Hollywood and Cinecittà, which was sharp-edged, with a taut narrative style that is only slowed down somewhat by the comic scenes. It is significant that neither Kara Ben Nemsi nor Hadji Halef Omar appear in May's original novel, and that the story of the end of a cruel human trafficker was approached as the beginning of a series - which came to nothing, despite a sequel the following year (THE LION OF BABYLON).
