Miriam is staying with her friend Ida for a few months and during this time she attends Winterstein School with her.
She knows nothing about the magical
community. But on her very first day of school, Mr. Morrison
gives the class two new magical animals: Max receives the owl Muriel, and to
Miriam's great surprise, she gets the energetic goblin monkey
Fitzgeraldo. Muriel quickly realizes that Max may have stronger feelings for
his best friend Leonie than he thinks. Miriam confides
in Fitzgeraldo that she was an outsider at her old school.
Then Ida finds out by chance that Winterstein School
is to be closed. Ida
and her class see the upcoming school challenge as their last chance to save the school and thus the magical
community. To her horror, Miriam learns that her
actual school is also participating in the competition, with her former classmate Torben
of all people. Under pressure from her
old class, Miriam finds herself caught between two sides. Can
Winterstein School win the school challenge? And can the class
prevent the school from closing as a result?
