Die Schuld der Liebe
Monica returns to Vienna from Luxembourg because her father has died - unexpectedly for her. As the circumstances of the ex-politician's death raise questions, the criminal investigation department starts to investigate.
Monica quickly tries to sort out all the formalities of the funeral and the estate, only to realize more and more how little she actually knew her father and how many opportunities she missed to get closer to him.
“The loss of everything that was once familiar is the subject of “Schuld der Liebe” by Andreas Gruber. The Austrian director has sent actress Sandrine Bonnaire on a journey into the past. She tracks down the attributes of his life as a substitute for the years she spent avoiding him. In the film's most beautiful scene, she wanders across a ferry: she leans over the railing and looks down into the foam of the water. Thus, without realizing it, she becomes the image of her father, a copy of him, who also stood there before he died.”
Ulrich Herrmann, DIE ZEIT
“Almost the entirety of “Die Schuld der Liebe”, Andreas Gruber's new and most convincing work to date, is set in an autumnal, foggy Vienna ....a beautiful, rare example of cosmopolitan cinema from a domestic production.”
Michael Omosta, FALTER
