Die Rache der Pharaonen
In 1895, after twenty years of searching in vain, a group of Egyptologists discovered the legendary tomb of Princess Ananka. Despite the warnings of a mysterious Egyptian named Mehemet Bey, Stephen Banning and Joseph Whemple enter the tomb. Only John has to stay behind due to a broken leg. The tomb is indeed sealed and completely untouched. Whemple goes back to the camp to report to John, while Stephen Banning continues to look around. He discovers the ‘Scroll of Life’ in a box, which supposedly can be used to bring the dead back to life. Intrigued, he begins to recite part of the scripture, inadvertently reviving the mummy of the high priest Kharis.
Before the film there is a short reading (5 min.) by MICHAEL BLIHALL, author of a series of fantasy novels. On this evening he will read a scene from his novel ‘Das Grauen schleicht durch Wien’, which is about reawakened crocodile mummies in the Kunsthistorisches Museum...
After the film, Michael Blihall will tell interesting facts about Hammer Studios and the two main actors in the film.
