Die Leuchter des Kaisers
Count Wolenski supports a Polish group of conspirators who are fighting for their country's independence. As he is carrying a secret document intended for the Tsar, the Archduke's order to deliver two precious candlesticks to a beautiful woman in St Petersburg comes in handy. Both candlesticks have a hidden compartment - ideal for smuggling messages. But a Russian secret agent is also after the two chandeliers - and Wolenski: a chase across Europe begins.
In DIE LEUCHTER DES KAISERS Hartl skilfully mixes adventure, drama and romance and spices it all up with a pinch of humour and thrills: a James Bond film avant la lettre, in which the as always enchanting Sybille Schmitz easily steals the show from the gentlemen. (Florian Widegger)
