One night in the valleys of the Himalayas, the orphan boy Balmani rescues a young tiger from unscrupulous poachers. Both escape and the boy takes the tiger cub, whom he calls Mukti, under his wing. Together they embark on a long and dangerous journey to Taktsang Monastery in Bhutan, also known as "The Tiger's Nest". The Tiger's Nest is a refuge for orphaned tigers run by monks, and is to become Mukti's new and safe home.
