In Switzerland, the battle for the right to vote famously broke out late. At the beginning of the 1970s, the order propagated as "divine" still prevailed, allowing men to decide how their wives lived their lives. When she repeatedly experiences injustice and learns to question the male-dominated "order", the fighting spirit of the previously reserved housewife and mother Nora awakens. Together with a group of women from the village, she confronts the begrudging rest of the community in order to demand the right to vote by law. With many humorous moments, Petra Volpe tells the story of individual emancipation in the aftermath of the 1968 movement as well as of a broader social transformation in Switzerland. Winner of several Swiss Film Awards.
