Die Erben
For Thomas, a high school student, and Charly, a petty criminal, the future seems to hold little promise: one is under pressure from his mother's expectations, the other has lost his job. A number of old and neo-Nazis provide the perfect catch basin for the two teenagers. Director Walter Bannert spent years visiting neo-fascist youth clubs in order to fathom the rise of the neo-Nazi scene in the late 1970s. In his production he does not shy away from depicting sexualised and right-wing extremist violence; numerous threats were the result. In a more radical way than perhaps expected, Bannert thus fulfils his goal of "emotionally charging" the audience.
