Der Juxbaron

A stunning comedy of mistaken identity about lies, manners and dowry hunters. Before turning to film, Ellen Richter appeared in the 1914 Berlin theatre production of Der Juxbaron, where she met her future husband Willi Wolff. Twelve years later, she produced this film adaptation, in which, for once, she did not appear. Instead, alongside Reinhold Schünzel, an up-and-coming star appeared in her first major role: Marlene Dietrich with a monocle.
