Der grüne Berg

FromFredi M. Murer

With[object Object]

Year1990

Duration128min.

The Wellenberg in the Swiss Engelberg Valley, which is farmed by farmers, was to become a repository for radioactive waste in 1987. The population fought back. When Fredi M. Murer spoke with the farmers and people on this alp, he did not yet know that the resistance would probably be finally rewarded in 2015. His film hears opponents and supporters in a dialectical manner and looks with great curiosity into the faces that tell of fears and realities of life. Here a conflict is revealed that begins to address not the present of the mountain people, but the future of the planet. What emerges is a moving plea for the sustainable treatment of the earth that resounds far beyond this specific mountain. (Patrick Holzapfel)
