Der Dibuk
DYBBUK (1937) by Michał Waszyński is considered a masterpiece of Yiddish cinema and authentically depicts the mystical world of Kabbalah and Hasidism. The film tells a profound, symbolic story that goes beyond kitsch. It is also a unique contemporary document and is one of the few surviving Yiddish-language films from Poland before the Holocaust that preserves a lost culture and melancholy beauty.
